Warren County parks add a mobile trailer for recycling aluminum cans
The Today in Bowling Green team
If you've got empties piling up, time to haul them out. Warren County Parks and Recreation now has a mobile recycling trailer that rotates among four parks. The county bought it with about $11,000 from a Kentucky Pride grant plus matching funds from AKFA Aluminum Solutions. WNKY reported that 100% of proceeds go to the Friends of Warren County Parks and Recreation scholarship program.
The trailer moves to a new park each week of the month
| Week of the month | Park |
|---|---|
| First | Phil Moore Park |
| Second | Michael Buchanon Park |
| Third | Ephram White Park |
| Fourth | G.H. Freeman Park, Plano |
Laura Haury of the Metals Innovation Initiative said Kentucky recycles about 15% of its aluminum, compared with 43% nationally. The project aims to make recycling easier to reach.
