  • Hotel Inc hosted its annual memorial service (in Warren County) to honor neighbors who died while experiencing homelessness. The event provided the community an opportunity to reflect on the value of dignity in life and death.  WNKY
  • Fans brought teddy bears and plush toys during the WKU men’s basketball game against Tulsa on Friday night at E.A. Diddle Arena (site of the charity event), with Marines collecting donations for Toys for Tots to support children in need. Although WKU lost, the event united the community.  WNKY
  • Gracyn is an 11-year-old from Scottsville who lives with cerebral palsy and was honored as a Norton Children’s Superhero during a WKU volleyball game. She inspires her school community by serving as a team manager and staying joyful despite challenges.  WNKY

HEALTH NEWS

  • Glory Baby Ministry partners with Med Center Health Labor and Delivery to offer burial and memorial packages on the labor floor in Bowling Green. The service, developed to support families facing infant loss (providing immediate compassionate care), gives comfort during a difficult time.  WNKY

SPORTS NEWS

  • Western Kentucky punter Cole Maynard was named a Consensus All-American by the NCAA Friday, marking the first honor in the FBS Era & setting a record with a 48.7-yard punting average over 51 punts. He will compete in the American Bowl on Jan. 22.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • The Glasgow girls' basketball team snapped a 15-game district losing streak with a 63-56 road win over Warren East on Thursday, Dec. 18, as coach Kelsey Kirkpatrick praised the team's effort & signaled renewed strength.   • Western Kentucky junior Georgia Liapis earned second team all-region honors from the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-South Region Team on Thursday, Dec. 18 at her university—she holds a 3.90 GPA and led her team in goals, shots and points.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • St. Xavier beat Warren Central (62-54) in the King of the Bluegrass Holiday Classic held Thursday in Louisville. Warren Central will play Grayson County in a consolation game Saturday night.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • Western Kentucky guard Teagan Moore was named to the Lou Henson Award Early Season Watch List by collegeinsider.com after he averaged a team-best 17.6 points and 5.6 rebounds in his first 10 games (the award honors top mid-major players) and his performance helped the Hilltoppers open with a 7-3 record.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • Barren County girls basketball team beat ACS 62-41 after a power outage lasting one hour during Thursday’s District 15 game at their home gym; the delay allowed the team to bond before lights returned. They will face Greenbrier Saturday in the KY vs. TN Classic.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • WKU Hilltoppers fell 82-81 to Tulsa Friday night at E.A. Diddle Arena. Grant Newell’s career-high 28 points helped the team drop to a 7-4 record in a game with seven lead changes — a wild finish before 3,547 fans.  WNKY
  • WKU Hilltopper football arrived in New Orleans Friday and will play Southern Miss in the New Orleans Bowl on Dec. 23 at Caesar’s Superdome, with coach Tyson Helton, local running back George Hart III, and teammates enjoying local seafood (including oysters) and a round of golf to start bowl weekend.  WNKY
