COMMUNITY NEWS

  • FROZEN4 will host a 2-mile walk at 8:30 a.m. and a 4-mile run at 9 a.m. on Jan. 3 at 885 Mount Olivet Road in Bowling Green—proceeds will support Mason Davis and his family with medical bills following an April 2024 car crash.  WNKY
  • Local residents may join The Sparkle Social at Highland Stables on Thursday, Dec. 11 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. – the event supports Massey Springs Senior Living with personalized ornaments and festive treats, with general admission at $32.50 or $7.50 to sponsor a senior.  WNKY
  • Local community member Bonnie Lou Jackson, 90, a dedicated Mary Kay Consultant, passed away on Dec. 8 at TJ Samson Community Hospital. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 13 (at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home) where family and friends can honor her life.  WCLU Radio

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Hundreds of Warren County Public Schools students gathered Tuesday for the Student Lighthouse Team Leadership Summit to build leadership skills. The annual event, a partnership with the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce, features activities that help students from Pre-K to high school master communication, problem solving, and teamwork.  WNKY

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Monday night, the Colonels overcame a 16-0 second-half run to beat the Trojans 46-36. The Colonels, now 2-0, will face Green County Friday at 7:15 p.m. while the Trojans, at 2-1, host Russellville tonight at 7:30.  WCLU Radio
  • Callie Bauer earned AVCA South All-Region First Team honors while Kaira Knox and Alivia Skidmore received Honorable Mention on Tuesday, Dec. 9 — the trio added to the Hilltoppers' storied accolades during a strong season.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • Will Stein became the new head football coach at UK yesterday after leaving Oregon, with his introduction marked by a police-escorted motorcade and a large fan turnout at the football complex. His father (a former UK defensive lineman) said the moment felt surreal and filled him with pride.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • Caverna beat Barren County 46 to 36 on Monday night after a 16 to 0 run in the third quarter, and coach Josh Pittman praised his team after a halftime talk (which boosted their regional competitiveness).  Bowling Green Daily News
