  • The Bowling Green Jaycees Christmas Parade featured over 120 participants in a Neon Lights-themed event as part of Light Up BGKY week on Friday, Dec. 5 at 10:00 p.m. and brought festive energy to local streets.  WBKO
  • On Tuesday, Dec. 2, WKU Greek Life groups gathered at the Downing Student Union to wrap gifts for 27 Parker-Bennett-Curry Elementary students.   • Curbside Ministries held its Bag of Blessings event where about 700 individuals received Christmas gifts including shoes + blankets, toys and stuffed animals. The event provided families with essential supplies for the holiday season.  WBKO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Community members attended a ribbon-cutting on Tuesday at Logan County High School to mark the end of a $33 million renovation that added a 600-seat auditorium and updated classrooms, labs and other spaces, ensuring safe and modern facilities.  Bowling Green Daily News

  • The City-County Planning Commission will vote on a property owner’s plan to split a single family home lot on Cardinal Way into three smaller lots. A public hearing is at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 18 at the Warren County Courthouse & local residents have concerns about neighborhood character.  Bowling Green Daily News

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Bowling Green approved eight developments that will add over 700 housing units since tornadoes hit in 2021, including a 69-home subdivision on Highway 185 backed by a $5 million grant. Construction on the project will begin in 2027.  Spectrum News 1

  • Western Kentucky's volleyball team lost its season on Friday as Marquette defeated the Hilltoppers 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-16) in a first-round NCAA Tournament match held in Louisville.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • WKU beat Evansville 80-79 Saturday, Dec. 6 at E.A. Diddle Arena with senior guard Ryan Myers scoring 27 points & leading his team back from an early deficit. The Tops will face Marshall on Wednesday at 6 p.m.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • The South Warren Spartans lost 28-14 to the Trinity Shamrocks in the KHSAA 6A State Football Championship at Kroger Field on Saturday, Dec. 6, finishing a 13-1 season in their first Class 6A appearance.  Bowling Green Daily News
