- ➤ Tuesday night, WKU sororities and fraternities hosted their fifth annual Angel Tree event and sponsored Christmas gifts for 27 Parker Bennett Elementary School kids—offering a special moment for families facing financial challenges. Graduate Assistant Taliah Guthrie, who once was an Angel Tree recipient, helped coordinate the gift wrapping while Student Activities plans to deliver the presents by the end of the week. WBKO
- ➤ Today, the Capitol in Bowling Green is open as a warming center from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.—volunteers from BG Neighbors Aid Network and the Warren County Public Library provide free food, movies, and a shuttle service for anyone needing a warm place. WBKO

- ➤ On December 2, the Goodnight Memorial Library in Franklin held its 16th annual Christmas Family Fun Night with pizza, crafts, and a visit from Santa — he also visited the Butler County Public Library in Morgantown for photos and wish lists. Yesterday at 6pm, Med Center Health Foundation hosted Make the Season Bright at the Hospitality House, and the Hardin Planetarium continues to offer free festive shows on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7pm and Sundays at 2pm throughout December. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Western Kentucky University will honor over 1,000 fall graduates during three ceremonies on Dec. 12 at Diddle Arena — with events at 8 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. — where 1,040 degrees across many levels will be conferred. Graduates are also invited to join the May 7 commencement ceremony. WNKY
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ According to the University of Oxford’s Department of Biology, Western European hedgehogs dropped by almost 30% and long-eared hedgehogs by over 30% in parts of Europe due to urban development. Sara Roth, a hedgehog breeder near Bowling Green, said American hedgehogs stay safe as pets — kept in heat-controlled homes that protect them from harsh outdoor conditions. Spectrum News 1

- ➤ City officials approved a change order to buy property for a one-mile pedestrian path along Scottsville Road near Best Buy to improve safety. Right-of-way work will finish by fall and construction will complete by end of 2027 — the project moves closer to reality. Bowling Green Daily News
