  • Feeding America, Kentucky's Heartland held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday morning at its new 12,000-square-foot distribution center at 182 Ambassador Drive in Bowling Green to boost food rescue efforts in its 42-county service area. Charles Dennis and Sergio Beltran spoke at the event organized with the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce to help serve families facing food insecurity.  WNKY
  • TC Cherry Elementary School held its annual cereal drive this holiday season where students collected over 3,400 boxes to donate to local food banks and family resource centers in Bowling Green and Warren County—teachers and students enjoyed the event by knocking down the boxes in the hallways, with a fifth grader winning a $100 prize for bringing 398 boxes.  WNKY
  • Trees of Christmas is back for its 47th year in Bowling Green as the Houchens Center hosts the event to raise funds for local nonprofits. Visitors can vote for their favorite decorated tree and donate money or cold weather clothing — The Salvation Army will collect clothing in honor of Romanza Johnson from Nov 29 through Dec 22.  WNKY

  • Ramsey Theatre Company announced that three of its shows have received nominations for the 2025 BroadwayWorld Regional Awards — Grease with 17, Floyd Collins with 14, and Wizard of Oz with 12. Voters can cast their vote for these productions until Dec 21.  WNKY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Bowling Green Police Department will host an open house in December — Recruiting Sergeant Brad Hogue discussed event details on Tuesday's Sunrise Spotlight — to let residents learn about police operations and meet officers.  WNKY

HEALTH NEWS

  • TriStar Greenview Regional Hospital earned awards from Healthgrades when it received the Specialty Excellence Award on Tuesday—placing it in the top 10% for lung care for the second year. The hospital also held five-star ratings for pneumonia treatment and hip care for several years.  WNKY

SPORTS NEWS

  • South Warren is practicing on Thanksgiving to get ready for its Class 6A state semifinal against Ryle on Friday at 6 p.m.—the team aims to keep its 12-0 record intact. Coach Brandon Smith said the players will focus on stopping the run and playing strong on special teams to face a tough challenge.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • WKU volleyball setter Callie Bauer appeared on News 40’s Topper Tuesday after the Hilltoppers won their third straight CUSA championship against FIU — she and the team will await their name being called at the NCAA volleyball selection show on Sunday.  WNKY
  • Western Kentucky’s women’s soccer program named six student-athletes to the CSC Academic All-District Team on Tuesday — the honorees are Maggie Bellair, Camryn Davis, Maddie Davis who earned her second honor, Kora Kipley, Georgia Liapis and Abby Wiedermann.   • Western Kentucky freshman guard Armelo Boone was named Conference USA Freshman of the Week for the second consecutive week after scoring 12 points, making four steals and three rebounds in the team’s 97-67 win over Bethel on November 18 at E.A. Diddle Arena—his play helped WKU improve to 4-0. Boone and his teammates will join the Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament in The Bahamas starting today with an 11 a.m. CT game against Vanderbilt airing on ESPN.  Bowling Green Daily News
