- ➤ The 70-acre Riverfront Park project will begin construction in December off College Street Bridge and will include a boat ramp and swings as part of its first phase. The phase will cost over $4 million and finish in May 2026—community feedback helped shape its plans for additional green spaces and trails. Spectrum News 1
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Three local high school teams built towers, candy catapults, and musical instruments at WKU’s Physics Olympics on November 22 in Kelly Thompson Hall for a chance to win four $1,000 scholarships, and Bowling Green High School ranked highest overall—earning the top prize while Warren Central and Butler County received event certificates. The half-day competition tested teamwork, creativity, and practical skills across five food-themed events designed to boost college and scholarship applications. College Heights Herald
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ At the WKU vs. MTSU football game on Nov. 14, students took part in the 100 Miles of Hope Blood Drive Competition—MTSU won by collecting 77 more units as WKU gathered 259 units and MTSU 336 units from Oct. 20 to Oct. 22. The event, sponsored by the American Red Cross, has long helped keep our local blood banks stocked. College Heights Herald

- ➤ Western Kentucky’s men’s basketball team is nearly fully healthy with 15 players ready for the eight-team Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas — only freshman Lawson Rice is sidelined from knee surgery. - ➤ Western Kentucky’s volleyball team won the Conference USA Tournament Championship on November 23 at FIU’s Ocean Bank Convocation Center by defeating Florida International 3-2—this win marked their tenth straight victory and improved their record to 27-5 while earning an NCAA Tournament berth.
