COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Ashlee Wilson was joined by Mandi Barnum and Kayla Goodman from Timesavers on Wednesday's edition of Sunrise Spotlight to discuss the Stocking for Seniors initiative that will provide holiday items to local seniors—an effort designed to support community needs.  WNKY

CULTURE NEWS

  • Longtime radio host Chris Bratcher died over the weekend, and colleagues at Commonwealth Broadcasting remembered him for nearly 30 years of service, technical skill, and a strong support for local music — his voice connected with Bowling Green listeners.  WCLU Radio

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Today, the Kentucky Department of Education released school report card data for Warren County Public Schools based on assessments given this spring. The results show nearly 10% higher high school scores, improved reading, math and science results across all grades, a graduation rate of 97.7%, and postsecondary readiness rising to a Very High level—marking significant gains in the district.  WBKO
  • The Kentucky Department of Education released 2024-2025 Summative Assessment results that rated Bowling Green Independent School District as green at middle and high school levels and yellow at the elementary level (Bowling Green High, Bowling Green Junior High, Potter Gray, and W. R. McNeill are green while T. C. Cherry is yellow and Dishman McGinnis and Parker-Bennett-Curry are orange). Superintendent Gary Fields said his schools are making progress despite challenges like student transiency and poverty.  WBKO

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Andy Beshear and Kentucky State Police are urging Kentuckians to donate non-perishable food at grocery stores where troopers will be stationed as part of the annual 'Cram the Cruiser' drive that runs through Dec. 5 — the effort aims to ease holiday hunger. All food donated will remain in the local community and can also be dropped off at any KSP post during signature events.  WBKO
  • Yesterday, the Warren County Clerk's Office distributed the new Beautify The Bluegrass license plates designed by local students from Western Kentucky University (available for purchase at $25) statewide. Each purchase gives ($10) to Operation PRIDE to support the Beautifi-65 project and more shipments will be ordered soon.  WNKY

HEALTH NEWS

  • Chele Gillon, lead counselor for Barren County Schools, appeared on WCLU’s Coffee and Conversation presented by The Hive Coffee and Bakehouse and offered mental health tips for the holiday season.  WCLU Radio

  • Conference USA announced awards on Wednesday, November 19—Western Kentucky earned six placements as Callie Bauer won her fifth straight Alyssa Cavanaugh Player of the Year honor and her second Setter of the Year award, while teammates Izzy Van De Wiele, Kaira Knox, Alivia Skidmore, Faith Young, and Tayler Baron also received honors.  Bowling Green Daily News
