  • Kentucky State Police will host its annual 'Cram the Cruiser' food drive on November 24 at Sam’s Club in Bowling Green — troopers will fill their cruisers with nonperishable donations to help local families during the holidays.  WNKY
  • Marines and community members gathered Sunday night at the Bowling Green Country Club to celebrate the Marine Corps 250th birthday, hosted by Marine Corps League Detachment 1095—emphasizing tradition and unity. The event featured a formal ceremony, a Toys for Tots program, and remarks by State Sen. Mike Wilson that highlighted the lasting bond among Marines.  WNKY
  • Several local leaders were honored as Black Achievers by the MLK Holiday Planning Committee on Saturday, Nov. 8 in Bowling Green—awards recognized achievements in education, athletics, community service, religion, healthcare, and business at UAW Solidarity Hall.  WNKY
  • Hope House Ministries is collecting donations for its Affordable Christmas program to help about 500 local families have a joyful holiday by letting parents buy gifts at a tenth of retail cost in partnership with six churches and 25 schools. Donations, including new toys valued at $10 or more, can be dropped off at 112 W. 10th Ave. until Dec. 7 — all contributions will serve families across Warren County.  WNKY

  • Hundreds of guests gathered at Sloan Convention Center on Saturday night for Med Center Health Foundation’s 21st annual Charity Ball to raise funds for local health programs — including the Community Clinic, Dental Clinic and Hospitality House. The black-tie event featured dinner, live music and dancing and raised hundreds of thousands of dollars that directly benefited these local health initiatives.  WNKY

  • Bowling Green Tourism entities won 14 Traverse Awards at the Kentucky Travel Industry Association Annual Conference in Louisville last week (the Bowling Green Area Convention & Visitors Bureau earned 13 awards, including three gold for tourism marketing, while the Historic RailPark & Train Museum received a bronze for its UnSeen BG Tour: The Real Housewives of Bowling Green). In Bowling Green alone, the tourism industry supports 3,984 jobs and adds $479.8 million in economic impact.  WBKO

CRIME NEWS

  • The Bowling Green—Warren County Drug Task Force and the South Central Kentucky Drug Task Force will hold a public auction of drug-forfeited vehicles, including new DTF detective vehicles and those forfeited by court order, with Joe Houchens of Joe B. Houchens Auctioneers overseeing the sale. The auction will be held on Friday, Nov. 21 at 1 p.m. in front of the Warren County Courthouse and will charge no buyer’s premium.  WBKO

  • On Monday, SoKY Speaks featured host Ashlee Wilson with Dick and Melodie Tunney as they discussed the upcoming musical The Best Gift—a Christmas Carol production that will air on WNKY TV; the segment provided details about the show's development and performance schedule.  WNKY
  • The Reindeer Farm in Bowling Green will offer a magical holiday season from November 14th through December 31st with festive activities like Breakfast with Santa, reindeer encounters, a petting zoo, and an evening experience under festive lights — the farm will also feature live art performances on select weekends and bundled day passes with half-price night tickets for same-day visitors.  SOKY Happenings

  • Three educators (the late Lois Chandler, Julie Cowan and Jennifer Miller Fritsch) were inducted into the Kentucky Teacher Hall of Fame at Gary Ransdell Auditorium on November 7. The ceremony included the display of plaques and remarks from officials such as WKU President Timothy Caboni, honoring their long service in teaching.  College Heights Herald

  • Western Kentucky middle hitter Izzy Van De Wiele earned her second Defensive Player of the Week honor after posting 15 blocks and 28 kills in a seven-set sweep against Delaware at E. A. Diddle Arena.
