  • Bowling Green residents will gather on Saturday for a downtown parade to honor veterans as flags line the streets—showing respect for military service and recognizing the sacrifices of veterans' families. Retired colonel Andy Souza, Bowling Green Public Works director, said the event will support ongoing appreciation for service members.  WBKO
  • The T.J. Community Mission Foundation's Dreamcatcher Program granted its first gift to Tiffany Wilson from Edmonton, who faced serious health problems, by offering her an all-inclusive trip to Dollywood with a two-day pass, a stay at Dollywood’s Dream More Resort+Spa, and dinner show tickets. Her mother said Tiffany enjoyed every minute, and the foundation plans to bring similar dreams to more families in southcentral Kentucky.  WNKY
  • Chicken Salad Chick and Boca Tacos are offering free meals to children amid SNAP uncertainty as the government shutdown continues—Chicken Salad Chick serves meals from Nov. 1 to 16 at Bowling Green, Owensboro and Evansville while Boca Tacos provides complimentary meals with no purchase necessary—and locals are urged to call ahead to check supply availability.  WNKY

  • Ron Bunch, president and CEO of the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce, resigned on Tuesday after 14 years in the role. The chamber has begun appointing an interim leader — his work drove regional growth and job creation — and will share more updates soon.  WNKY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Western Kentucky University Student Government Association launched the 'Swipe It Forward' program on Monday to help ensure students do not go hungry on campus through its partnership with WKU Restaurant Groups. The confidential donation period runs from November 3rd until November 7th, and students can donate or receive up to three meal swipes per semester—officials said the program will collect data on student needs—supporting meals at Fresh Food Company on campus.  WNKY

SPORTS NEWS

  • Bowling Green’s Lady Purples rolled to a 3-0 win over McCracken County on Monday at Bowling Green High School with set scores of 25-15, 25-19, 25-20. The team now advances to face Notre Dame at George Rogers Clark High School on Friday at 6:30 p.m.+ they plan a new strategy for the quarterfinal matchup.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • After a weekend of milestones, the Western Kentucky volleyball team will host Delaware for its final two home matches at E.A. Diddle Arena on Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at noon—honoring its seniors and coach Travis Hudson with a statue unveiling after Saturday’s game.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • The 2025 All-SKY Conference Football Teams were announced Tuesday, November 4th, with unbeaten South Warren earning seven first-team selections in the large-school division and unbeaten Glasgow securing 10 picks in the small-school division—highlighting standout performances—across offense and defense.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • Bowling Green Hot Rods announced the 2026 Hot Rods Hall of Fame Ballot for media vote+ this is the third ballot cycle and the first since Blake Snell was inducted in 2019. At least one former player or coach will be honored before Opening Day on April 3, and all votes must be cast by November 13+ the ballot lists candidates who meet strict game and coaching requirements.  WNKY
  • WKU Hilltopper Basketball opened their season with an 82-70 win over Tennessee Tech Monday night at E.A. Diddle Arena in Bowling Green — Grant Newell and Teagan Moore each scored 16 points while newcomer Bryant Selebangue earned a double-double. The team made 80% of its free throws and built an early lead before finishing strong, and they will play Eastern Kentucky on Nov. 10.  WNKY
