  • After more than 23 years of service, Battalion Chief Tim Buchanon retired on Thursday from the Bowling Green Fire Department. Fire Chief Justin Brooks said Buchanon led for nine years as a battalion chief + he prepared younger firefighters and showed the bravery that kept our community safe.  WNKY

  • Southern Coil Solutions opened a $75 million facility at Kentucky Transpark in Bowling Green — it uses AI-driven automation to boost metals storage efficiency, safety and sustainability.   • Nine Western Kentucky University alumni were honored during the 2025 Hilltopper Excellence Awards this week; Phillip Bale and his wife Kristen earned honorary alumni status—others were recognized for public service and volunteer work.  WNKY

  • Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear declared a state of emergency on Friday, Oct. 31 (due to a potential lapse in SNAP benefits) and directed $5 million from the budget reserve trust fund to Feeding Kentucky’s food banks serving 120 counties.  WBKO

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Western Kentucky soccer team finished the regular season as co-champions in Conference USA and earned the top seed as they head to Lynchburg, Virginia for the tournament. They will face No. 8 Missouri State at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday — a win will bring them closer to their first NCAA Tournament bid.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • The Bowling Green volleyball team clinched the Region 4 championship on October 30th at Logan County High School by beating Greenwood 3 to 0. The team finished with a record of 37 wins and 3 losses and will host Region 1 champion McCracken County in the state tournament on Monday.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • Highlights and scores from the final week of high school football regular season were released on October 31, powered by sponsorship from Final Finish — Toyota of Bowling Green.  WNKY
  • South Warren beat Logan County 49—14 on October 30 to win the district's top seed, and three interceptions plus 266 rushing yards helped the Spartans finish the season undefeated in their first Class 6A year.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • Glasgow football rallied from a 14-0 deficit to beat Franklin-Simpson 27-24 in double overtime and improved to 10-0. Coach Jackson Arnett said the win will boost the team heading into playoffs, which begin Friday at home against Webster County at 7 p.m.  WCLU Radio
  • Barren County’s Trojans beat Allen County-Scottsville 40-0 with key plays from Braxton Carnes, Jaxson Byrd, and Corbin Wells—each score showing their strong teamwork. The game highlighted a dominant performance from the Trojans throughout the match.  WCLU Radio
