COMMUNITY NEWS

  • State Street United Methodist Church will host its Annual Lasagna Lunch and Bazaar on November 18 at 1101 State Street — Bowling Green. The event, run by the church’s Women’s Society and Christian Service, has been held since 1956 to raise funds for mission projects.  SOKY Happenings
  • The Downtown Duck Drop will take place on November 24 at noon at The Fringe where 300 mini rubber ducks will drop from a bucket truck. Ducks cost $10 each with a 10-duck limit per person and one duck earns an entry to win $100 from Houchens Food Group as part of a fundraiser for Duncan Hines Days — additional prizes include hundreds in local business offerings —.  WBKO

CULTURE NEWS

  • Riverview at Hobson Grove Historic House Museum will host a traditional Christmas celebration with a marketplace featuring vendors selling clothing, jewelry, home décor, seasonal items, a bake sale and book signings by local authors on Wednesday, December 3 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. — all vendor spaces are full. The event will end with a Candlelight Tour on Saturday, December 13 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and the museum will resume tours on March 3 after closing for the winter.  SOKY Happenings

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Western Kentucky University announced it will remove its nonacademic living learning communities—such as Stonewall Suites and the Intercultural Student Engagement Center—from its housing options beginning next school year to comply with Kentucky House Bill 4 that bans diversity, equity and inclusion programs.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • Sixth graders at Bowling Green Junior High School took part in hands-on STEM and automotive activities funded by the General Motors Community Impact Grant—experts and teachers led sessions that showed the students real career options in technical fields.  WNKY
  • Logan County Schools are planning to begin construction on an expanded career and technical center in May 2026—adding diesel mechanics and plumbing programs with renovations expected to finish by summer. The school board received a $9.95 million grant in April and will finalize plans at its November board meeting.  WBKO
  • On Wednesday's edition of SoKY Speaks — featuring Ashlee Wilson and Margaret Glaser — they discussed WKU Homecoming and its details for the upcoming event.  WNKY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Bowling Green police warn drivers to plan ahead this Halloween as Mooreland Avenue in the Briarwood neighborhood will be closed from 3:45 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 31—police remind motorists to be alert for trick-or-treaters along Pumpkin Alley.  WNKY

HEALTH NEWS

  • Select Health of Bowling Green and The DRIPBaR Bowling Green will host their Annual Holiday Open House on Thursday, December 4 from 4–7 PM at 2530 Scottsville Road, Suite 112 — Old Hickory Building where guests will enjoy VIP specials, live music and giveaways including a grand prize Gucci purse. A ribbon cutting ceremony will start at 11 a.m. with the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce and the first 50 RSVP guests will receive a free gift.  SOKY Happenings
  • TriStar Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green was honored for its cardiac care by earning The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval and the American Heart Association’s Heart-Check Mark for Chest Pain Certification. The review took place in August — showing the hospital's commitment to fast, coordinated care when every second counts.  WNKY

  • South Warren senior running back Kayden York proved his versatility in Friday's 49-14 win over Daviess County by scoring his 13th rushing touchdown, throwing a trick-play score, and making a Pick-6—he said his passing touchdown was his favorite score.
