- ➤ Kentucky recorded the highest teen driving deaths in the nation for a fourth straight year—multiple deadly crashes involving teens occurred last week and safety experts say parents and peers must set good examples to reduce risks on the road. WBKO

- ➤ Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana will host a free open house on Saturday, Nov. 8 at Camp Houchens in Bowling Green where school-aged girls and their families can enjoy camp activities (including crafts, campfire s’mores, guided nature hikes, and slingshot practice) and current scouts are encouraged to bring a friend for an extra patch; all children must be accompanied by an adult (no registration is required). - ➤ At Tuesday's meeting, the Bowling Green City Commission approved a $3.64 million grant to help fund a new whitewater park along the Barren River—Neighborhood and Community Services director Brent Childers said the grant covers half the cost with the rest coming from state and city funds. The meeting also approved a $5 million grant to build a new subdivision along KY-185 for those affected by the December 2021 tornadoes. WNKY
- ➤ Kentucky State Police share Halloween safety tips by urging drivers to slow down and advising parents, trick-or-treaters and homeowners to follow guidelines for costumes, lighting and hazard removal. - ➤ Matthew 25 Aids Services Inc. will host a ribbon-cutting for its new Bowling Green facility on November 6 at 11 a.m.—the nonprofit supports over 1,000 HIV patients in 37 counties and now offers mental health counseling, group therapy, and a larger food pantry. - ➤ Local Goodwill stores now offer free Narcan — a nasal spray that reverses opioid overdoses — according to Barren River District Health. The harm reduction team placed a Naloxbox at each store so community members can access this lifesaving tool. WNKY

- ➤ WKU volleyball will host UTEP in two Conference USA games this weekend — the first at 6 p.m. Friday and the second at noon Saturday — and both teams are undefeated in conference play.
