- ➤ Family Enrichment Center is marking TEN-4 Awareness Day today to help community members learn the signs of potential child abuse by watching for bruises on the torso—ears and neck in children 4 and under. - ➤ The Hive Society marked its 10th anniversary this week at its Annual Cocktail Soirée as founder Laura Orsland praised the nonprofit for supporting local families and individuals with disabilities through challenges like the pandemic and tornadoes. The organization began in 2015 and will soon expand into Allen County — a move that will help more local residents. WNKY
- ➤ Community Action of Southern Kentucky will host its annual Community Needs Assessment Meeting and Resource Fair on Oct. 14 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Glasgow Housing Authority Hero’s Center in Barren County—organizers say the event will offer information on energy assistance, Early Head Start, and volunteer opportunities. - ➤ Today, the Bowling Green Police Department teamed up with local 7 Brew stores to serve coffee and connect with residents—officers took orders, served drinks, and chatted with locals. They will return Monday at the 7 Brew on Scottsville Road from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and again from 2 to 5 p.m. WNKY
- ➤ Lost River Cave is hosting its 14th annual Scarecrow Trail event today with 95 displays created by local businesses and running until October 26. Visitors may vote once each day or donate extra votes to help their favorite scarecrow win—supporting funds for the park. WBKO

- ➤ Barry Williams, the longtime radio announcer for Lady Topper basketball from 1984 to 2017, died at age 78 on Sept. 25 and was loved for his clear, friendly voice that called over 1,000 games. His career will be honored today at 1 p.m. at Eastwood Baptist Church — donations in lieu of flowers are requested for Kentucky Kids on the Block or the Bowling Green Humane Society. - ➤ Downing Student Union room 2084 is no longer the ISEC Pride Center but remains open for the Queer Student Union and other students—an update following a Student Government Association meeting where WKU General Counsel said the dedicated space could not be maintained under House Bill 4. - ➤ Greenwood rallied for a 21—17 football win over Barren County on Thursday night as Davis Chaney scored two touchdowns and the defense made key stops to seal the victory.
