- ➤ On Thursday, Ray Springsteen, president of Abound Credit Union, announced a $500,000 gift to expand WKU's Center for Financial Success, which is now named the WKU Center for Financial Success at the Gordon Ford College of Business. WKU President Timothy C. Caboni said the donation will help students gain real-world financial skills — marking Abound's largest gift to date. WNKY
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A road improvement project in Barren County on KY 90 will begin Monday, Oct. 6, with work planned in phases from Sanders Street to U.S. 68 Veterans Outer Loop. The $6.5 million plan will add passing and turn lanes—improve drainage, guardrails, shoulders and vegetation trimming, and is set to finish in early fall 2026. WNKY

- ➤ Med Center Health hosted its women's conference at the Knicely Center where guest speakers gave advice on mental and physical health and ways to care for oneself. Health director Sarah Widener stressed the need for self-care—next year's event will be planned to support more community wellness. WNKY

- ➤ Three former Western Kentucky standouts will be inducted as the 34th WKU Athletic Hall of Fame class this fall at homecoming on Nov. 1 at E.A.
