- ➤ Local attorney Charles English celebrated his 90th birthday at the law firm he founded 52 years ago and recalled beginning his legal career in Warren County in 1960—his long service includes mentoring younger lawyers and earning several honors from the Kentucky Bar. Bowling Green Daily News
- ➤ News 40 reporter Telia Butler—downtown development coordinator known for launching events like Duncan Hines Days and Fountain Row—has been named the 2025-26 Talisman Award winner for her contributions in communications. - ➤ Bambino Buddy League has launched in Bowling Green to let kids with physical and intellectual disabilities learn baseball and make friends—league president Amber Wilson said volunteer buddies play a key role in supporting the children on the field. WBKO
- ➤ Snowflake is a lively and friendly dog who loves to play and be the center of attention—she is featured as Monday's Pet of the Day by Morgantown Bank and Trust. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Bowling Green’s International Festival celebrated its 25th year at Circus Square Park on Saturday, September 27 while overcoming a rainy start earlier in the week. The day-long event featured food, dance and music from cultures including Venezuela, Mexico and Egypt (among others) and was supported by Service One Credit Union (its sponsor). - ➤ Three teachers—Lois Chandler, Julie Cowan, and Jennifer Fritsch—will soon be inducted into the Kentucky Teacher Hall of Fame at Western Kentucky University on November 7. Chandler is honored posthumously while Cowan and Fritsch are celebrated for many years of shaping kindergarten–12 students. WBKO
- ➤ Western Kentucky University received over $3M in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Education for its Student Support Services and Student Support Services Disabilities programs, which offer tutoring, advising, and financial aid guidance to first-generation, low-income, and disabled students. The funds will support about 325 students over the next five years—helping them reach their goal of college success. WCLU Radio
- ➤ Three Kentucky educators will be honored by joining the Teacher Hall of Fame; Lois Chandler, Julie Cowan, and Jennifer Fritsch are part of the 17th class chosen by a statewide committee. The ceremony will take place on Friday, Nov. 7—at WKU’s campus, and full biographies will be shared that day. WNKY

- ➤ The city of Bowling Green is asking for bids to build the park section of Riverfront Park and will choose a contractor in November—construction is set to begin soon. River sensors are gathering data to design a whitewater rafting area that will be added later, with the park expected to be completed in spring. WNKY
- ➤ The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3 has detailed traffic impacts from Sept. 28 to Oct. 3 as the I-165 bridge restoration (which lowers speed limits to 55 mph) and several road improvement projects continue in Bowling Green and nearby counties. Motorists should expect lane closures and altered travel patterns on highways such as U.S. 231 and KY 185 while work (including paving, milling, and striping) extends into fall. WNKY

- ➤ Georgia Nut Company recalled some TruFru freeze dried products due to metal contamination as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration reported on Friday—these products were sold nationwide at stores like Kroger, Target, CVS and Food Lion with no injuries reported. WNKY

- ➤ WKU running back La’Vell Wright was named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week and left tackle Marshall Jackson earned the CUSA Offensive Lineman of the Week after WKU defeated Missouri State 27-22 in Springfield on Saturday — both players delivered key plays that helped the team improve to a 4-1 record.
