- ➤ Community Partners for Recovery will host Recover Loudly 2.0 on September 27 with a day of celebration featuring music, food, and fun—Glasgow’s Market on the Square also returns that day. Med Center Health is preparing for a 10k run as Bowling Green’s first-ever Emerge conference ended and Warren East High School lifted a brief lockdown after notifying parents. WBKO
- ➤ Bowling Green community remembers Danny Renshaw, a well-known automotive businessman who was loved for his kind ways and support for local programs—he died August 16 after a 512-day fight with lung cancer. His family and friends say his legacy lives on through the many community causes he supported. WNKY
- ➤ Reservoir Hill park’s new playground in Bowling Green is nearing completion after weather delays, with slides, swing sets, benches, and fences installed. Workers will install turf soon and Bowling Green Parks and Rec plans a grand opening event in mid October — the upgrades will create a larger, nature-themed play area. WNKY
- ➤ Michelle Howell and her husband Nathan run Need More Acres in Halfway where they grow fruits and vegetables on 20 acres to feed local families and train new farmers. The farm hosts school field trips and winter farming programs—despite challenges from high land costs and unpredictable weather. WNKY
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The City of Bowling Green launched the Downtown BGKY Ambassador Academy yesterday to offer WKU sophomores, juniors and seniors free leadership, community service and professional development opportunities downtown—participants will join monthly half-day sessions from October through April and work on a capstone project that culminates in a graduation event. Applications opened on Sept. 18th and will close on Oct. 2nd at 11:59 p.m. with notifications on Oct. 9th. WBKO
- ➤ Today, the Stuff the Bus Foundation received a grant from the Parker Foundation—funding programs that provide free school supplies and support for educators to help students across South Central Kentucky. WBKO
- ➤ Graysin Slade started his nonprofit, Julie Morris Foundation, to offer free music lessons and moved to Bowling Green with his wife and infant in February. He plans to expand his program—partnering with the Warren Regional Juvenile Detention Center—to help kids learn music. Bowling Green Daily News

- ➤ Shane Holinde of the Kentucky Mesonet said Bowling Green and western Kentucky face a severe drought after a record-dry August and ongoing dry conditions that lowered stream flows and hurt livestock and hay production—experts warn conditions may worsen to extreme levels if rain does not come soon. - ➤ Glasgow's Scotties beat the Trojans 6-2 on Tuesday at home, evening their season series with Barren County.
