COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Dutch Bros will donate $1 for every drink sold on Sept. 19 + the donation from both company-owned and franchise locations will benefit youth organizations in Bowling Green. Local nonprofit partners include Casa of South Central Kentucky, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Make-A-Wish and Special Olympics.  WNKY

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Fruit of the Loom Brand Shop Outlet in Bowling Green announced it will permanently close at the end of November as it shifts focus to other priorities—customers can make final purchases starting October 1 with gift cards honored until the last day of business.  WNKY
  • American restaurant chain First Watch will open a breakfast, brunch and lunch restaurant at 2945 Scottsville Road in Bowling Green in early 2027. The new venue—featuring a patio, indoor bar and locally-inspired mural—is expected to create about 30 jobs and will operate daily from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  WNKY

CULTURE NEWS

  • Hispanic Heritage Month runs from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 in Bowling Green, celebrating Hispanic culture—advocates stress that the event also should raise mental health awareness as data shows only 36% of Hispanic Americans with mental illness receive treatment. Dr. Roger Rivera, a local psychiatric nurse practitioner, said early intervention and support help reduce the effects of bipolar disorder and break the stigma in the community.  WNKY
  • On Tuesday, Ashlee Wilson and Dr. Zach Lopes talked about the WKU Music Department's upcoming concerts and events in the Sunrise Spotlight segment. They explained when the events will occur—giving local fans clear details about what to expect.  WNKY
  • City officials approved a public art agreement with SKyPAC that will let the town add more installations, including a 12-foot globe at Circus Square Park that will feature stars for each immigrant country and was supported by a $70,000 donation from former Mayor Johnny Webb—local artists are invited to join the project and more pieces will come soon—. The city will prepare installation sites while SKyPAC raises funds and commissions future artwork.  Bowling Green Daily News

  • Bowling Green-Warren County Humane Society reported a rise in deadly virus cases among pets due to warmer weather causing them to spend more time outside—raising their exposure to other animals.  WBKO
  • Bowling Green community members will have the chance to donate blood as part of the 100 Miles of Hope Blood Drive from Oct. 20—22 at Preston Health and Activities Center; both walk-in donors and appointment donors from 12 p.m.—6 p.m. are welcome. The winning school will be announced on Nov. 15 during WKU Football’s game against Middle Tennessee at Houchens-Smith Stadium.  WNKY

  • Warren Central football built momentum with back-to-back wins, including a Sept 5 victory over Allen County-Scottsville and a recent win over Warren East that ended long losing streaks since 2015. The Dragons will host winless Ohio County on Friday— a win that would give them their first three-game streak since 2014.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • After a 45-21 loss to Toledo on Sept. 6, Western Kentucky Hilltoppers had an early bye to work on limiting turnovers and strengthening run defense+ they will face Nevada at 6 p.m. Saturday at Houchens-Smith Stadium as coach Tyson Helton said practice focused on fixing past mistakes.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • Barren County girls’ cross country team finished second at the Hardin County Fairgrounds on Saturday with 106 points—top runners Audrey Nuetzman, Gracie Reed, and Molly Beckham placed in the top seven. Glasgow runners also competed, and Brinleigh Mackie led her group with a 5K time of 22:08.97.  WCLU Radio
  • WKU Women’s Tennis head coach Greg Davis announced the 2025-26 schedule on Tuesday. The Lady Toppers will play in two fall events starting Sept. 19 and in a spring season of 24 matches—13 at home in Bowling Green and a CUSA Tournament in Murfreesboro on April 15—18.  WNKY
