  • Families gathered at Bowling Green Ballpark for the Blockbusters at the Ballpark event this past weekend where they watched a free screening of Captain America: Brave New World. Organizers announced the next event will show Wicked in October.  WNKY
  • Feeding America Kentucky's Heartland signed a lease for a 12,000 square foot warehouse in Bowling Green to store food for many partners—full operations will begin in October and an event will take place on September 9 to introduce the new center.  WNKY

CULTURE NEWS

  • Ramsey Theatre Company and the Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center have launched AcTOURS—its new touring theatre program—to bring live performances to schools. The tour will present the 45-minute play Vexing Verses with a cast discussion for middle and high school students, and bookings are open from Sept. 22 to Oct. 28.  WNKY
  • Nationally renowned poet Diego Perez—known as yung pueblo—will speak at The Capitol on Oct. 2 from 6 to 7 p.m. where Warren County Public Library will offer 200 copies of his new book 'How to Love Better' on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Bowling Green Daily News

  • Amy and David Chandler Hall opened on Monday for WKU students starting classes in the Gordon Ford College of Business. The new building cost $100 million and features updated technology—such as Zoom classrooms and Bloomberg terminals—to support learning and student success.  College Heights Herald

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Beshear designated bromazolam as a Schedule 1 controlled substance on Monday—this emergency ban follows its link to 48 overdose deaths in 2024 and gives law enforcement new authority to arrest those selling the drug.  WNKY

  • Today, Graves Gilbert Clinic marks World Breast Cancer Research Day by discussing new ways to customize cancer surgery and screening. The clinic said doctors use risk assessments plus AI to catch breast cancer early and plan better care.  WNKY
