  • Hotel Inc. will host its annual Farm to Table fundraiser on Saturday, Aug. 30 at Tayvin Gardens in Smiths Grove; the event will feature a three-course meal by local chef Brittany Vincent + a Bridgerton-inspired theme that benefits programs to fight poverty and improve food access in West End Bowling Green.  WNKY
  • Vietnam veterans in Bowling Green are invited by the Daughters of the American Revolution to sign up by Aug. 23 for a free bus trip to Frankfort to visit the state Capitol’s Vietnam memorial—veterans may bring a guest as the trip honors those who served, including the 1,000 who lost their lives.  WNKY
  • Kelley Paul visited the Buddy House on Tuesday to meet people, cook a bean salad from Shelly Rogers's cookbook, and share words of encouragement. The nonprofit serving people with Down syndrome in 14 counties will pursue an $850,000 grant to build a new 18,000 square foot facility.  Bowling Green Daily News

  • Richard Rigsby, 26, was arrested Thursday after BGPD served a search warrant at his home—police seized multiple electronic devices containing hundreds of illegal images of child sexual abuse—and he now faces 20 counts of distribution and 20 counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • Downtown Bowling Green police warn that scammers are placing fake QR codes on ParkMobile signs to take drivers’ payments — officers advise checking codes closely and using secure payment methods.  WBKO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Board of Education approved planned additions and renovations for Bowling Green Junior High that will add 25,000 feet of new learning space and upgrade older areas—new academic and extracurricular rooms like science labs, performance spaces, and an expanded cafeteria are in the plans. Construction will begin in spring to support the growing student body.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • WKU’s new building for the Gordon Ford College of Business will be named Amy and David Chandler Hall after the couple donated $7.5 million to support the $100 million project—its students will move in on August 18 and the dedication ceremony is set for September 19.  College Heights Herald
  • Western Kentucky University has named its new business building Amy and David Chandler Hall to honor longtime supporters who pledged $7.5 million. The dedication ceremony will be held on Sept. 19 at 10 a.m. and additional named spaces will be announced during the event.  WBKO

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Caverna Independent Schools Board met on Thursday and voted to keep the current tax rate while also approving BG-1 projects like a new roof and a resurfaced 6-lane track—measures that aim to improve school facilities and support academic programs. The board also updated the student code and set a $2,500 stipend for a staff member to head public relations.  WCLU Radio
