- ➤ Quinton Hampton, 39, of Auburn is set to go to trial on Sept. 3 on murder and tampering charges from a 2023 shooting at Brookwood Mobile Home Park where Darrius Wickware died—he pleaded guilty on July 15 to a firearm possession charge. Bowling Green Daily News

- ➤ Warren County Public Schools began their year on Wednesday as over 850 students returned to South Warren Middle School, where principal David Cloyd and janitor Thomas McCrady helped prepare classrooms to ease the transition. The school offers breakfast and lunch daily to support students facing food insecurity—elementary buses drop students off at 3:00 p.m. and middle and high school buses at 3:30 p.m. Spectrum News 1
- ➤ Last Wednesday, over 17,300 K-12 students attended the first day of classes at the new Warren Elementary School—a $43 million, state-of-the-art facility on Brookwood Drive that replaces the nearly 50-year-old building with modern classrooms and a storm-proof gymnasium shelter. Principal Josh Porter said students are excited and teachers praise the improved classroom separation—features that will be adjusted to ease student traffic and daily routines. - ➤ Today, WKU Public Media lost more than $1.2 million in federal funding from the Rescissions Act of 2025—this cut removed one-third of its budget and cost 10 full-time and 40 part-time student jobs. - ➤ Kentucky passed Senate Bill 120 that requires school athletic administrators, coaches, and directors to be trained to recognize and report suspected child abuse. Signed by Gov.
