  • On Saturday the Browning Volunteer Fire Department marked its 50th anniversary with a fish fry and meeting at the station on Browning Road—residents from across Warren County gathered to hear guest speakers and share in the celebration; Chief Keith Lockhart and Judge-Executive Doug Gorman praised the department's long service and stressed the importance of recruiting new members to continue protecting the community.  WNKY

  • Publix Super Markets today executed a lease for a new 50,325-square-foot store with an adjacent Publix Liquors on the northeast corner of Nashville Road - Dillard Road and will hire about 150 associates, though the opening date remains to be announced.  WBKO
  • Kat Johns, a junior at Western Kentucky University, opened her micro-bakery Gavel and Grain out of her house on August 4th to fund her future dreams.  WBKO

CRIME NEWS

  • A Bowling Green man—Timmy Ray Cowles—faces a second-degree manslaughter charge after punching Bradley Bunger outside Dolphie’s Lounge on February 22, which led to Bunger’s death; Cowles was released on a $25,000 cash bond and is scheduled for arraignment on Sept. 2.  WNKY

  • A new exhibit titled Heroes’ Homecoming honoring 18 aviators with ties to Southcentral Kentucky is now open at Aviation Heritage Park & Museum. It features stories of decorated military pilots and astronauts including General Dan Cherry and Col. Terry Wilcutt and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  WNKY
  • Bigfoot believers and paranormal fans gathered in Bowling Green on Saturday for the second annual Bigfoot MiniCon to hear panelists and investigators share their stories—organizers said they plan to hold a third event next year.  WNKY
