- ➤ The Housing Authority’s Small Business Accelerator opened in a renovated 20,000-square-foot building to aid small business owners such as women, minority, and low-income entrepreneurs, and tenants like Danny’s Pasta opened their doors on Feb. 28 with support covering startup costs and background checks. Two suites remain vacant while Med Center Health will move its Health and Wellness services into the accelerator later this week—adding to a mix of local businesses already serving Bowling Green. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ School districts across Southcentral Kentucky have released back-to-school dates for the fall, with Bowling Green Independent Schools set to begin on August 13, Allen County's Scottsville Schools scheduled for August 7, and Campbellsville Independent Schools planned for August 27. Families can plan ahead using this schedule+ other districts have start dates ranging from August 6 to August 27. WBKO

- ➤ Kita Clement, a social worker at the Department of Public Advocacy, retired after many years of helping hundreds avoid jail by securing treatment for drug addiction and mental illness. A reception was held on Friday at the Warren County Justice Center to honor her work and she now plans to spend more time with her four grandchildren. Bowling Green Daily News
- ➤ Paid firefighters will soon serve Warren County to ease daytime staffing shortages + reduce response times as many volunteer firefighters work full-time jobs. WBKO
- ➤ Tuesday, the Civil Air Patrol held its annual awards ceremony at Bowling Green Warren County Regional Airport where Mayor Todd Alcott, a former Air Force Lieutenant Colonel (who praised the group's service), thanked the cadets and leaders; three Kentucky wing members earned the prestigious Gil Robb Wilson award (held by just over 4,500 people nationwide). - ➤ Sen. Max Wise & Rep. Shawn McPherson visited The Center for Courageous Kids in Scottsville where they toured the 168-acre camp, met staff and saw campers engaging in inclusive activities for children with serious illnesses or disabilities. - ➤ Commissioner Jonathan Shell reappointed Fritz Giesecke from Horse Cave and Heather Graham on the Agricultural Development Board to represent the Kentucky Farm Bureau and active farmers. He also reappointed Linda Rumpke for commercial lenders and Frank Penn for the equine industry while appointing Steve Olt for dairy farmers on the Agricultural Finance Corporation. WNKY
