  • SKYTCT's Pathfinder food pantry, serving students for seven years at six campus locations, began receiving monthly donations from Houchens Food Group on Tuesday for 10 months to help those facing food insecurity. Dr. David Travis said students near the main campus may pick up food while others can request online delivery to another campus—easing a key stressor for many.  WBKO

CRIME NEWS

  • Police said a generator valued at roughly $1,800 was stolen from a site on July 16th — investigators are pursuing leads.  WBKO
  • A Glasgow man was charged with drug-related crimes after police found drugs in his car + home when they executed a warrant yesterday.  WBKO
  • Sydney Young, an art teacher, was chosen by Western Kentucky University to be the courtroom sketch artist for the high-profile Crystal Rogers case and she drew around 90 sketches during the weeks in court. Sentencing for Brooks Houck and Joseph Lawson will be held on Aug. 21—Steve Lawson is set to be sentenced on Aug. 6.  Spectrum News 1
  • Authorities today arrested David Franklin at a Lexington Drive store in Glasgow when serving a federal warrant; after a marijuana odor prompted a vehicle search, a home search found large quantities of cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, pills, and cash—Franklin now faces multiple drug trafficking charges and is held at Warren County Region Jail.  WBKO

  • The Kentucky Oral History Commission awarded a grant to Historic RailPark and Train Museum to record interviews about the L&N Depot's 100th anniversary. The stories will be used for exhibits & education to preserve the depot's legacy.  WBKO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Warren County Public Schools plans to pilot a new artificial intelligence pathway at the IMPACT Center starting as early as eighth grade. Director of Technology Amy Buss said the district is working with local partners—like the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce—to design a curriculum that teaches technical and ethical skills.  WBKO
  • Families in Warren County are preparing for a new school year as teachers begin on Monday, Aug 4 and students start on Wednesday, Aug 6—key breaks are Fall Break from Oct 6 through Oct 10, Winter Break from Dec 22 through Jan 5, and Spring Break from Apr 6 through Apr 10 with additional days off for preschool and professional development.  Spectrum News 1
