Good morning, Bowling Green.

Thirty-two campers aged 10 to 12 returned to Police Post Three on Friday after spending a week at Trooper Island where they fished, kayaked, used archery, and swam at Dale Hollow Lake—an effort that gives underprivileged youth a chance to build trust with local troopers.

The program aims to help the children form new friendships while learning valuable skills.

Bowling Green's Bosnian community is holding a peace march today at Circus Square Park at 10 a.m.—the route will cover 8,372 steps to honor the 30th anniversary of the Srebrenica massacre, marking the worst mass murder in Europe since the Holocaust.

Moose Pods will soon launch in Bowling Green offering indoor/outdoor dog suites, live-feed cameras, daycare, grooming, spa services and 24-hour pickup to provide home-like care for every pet—while also starting a nonprofit emergency relief fund to help local families with urgent vet expenses.

The Bowling Green Police Department and Bike Walk BG offer a Junior Police Academy where children ride bikes, solve mock crimes, process evidence, and take part in a simulated courtroom trial to learn about safety and policing skills—building confidence and responsible habits for the future.

Officers from BGPD’s Critical Response Team, Crisis Negotiators, drone operators and other specialized teams practiced a hostage rescue drill at Natcher Elementary School on July 11.

The simulation featured a disgruntled former teacher holding the principal hostage—helping teams practice clearing the building and neutralizing the threat.
