  • A group of Western Kentucky University students biking across the country for Alzheimer’s awareness returned to Bowling Green Monday afternoon and were greeted with strong support from the community—one student joined the ride to honor his great aunt and grandma who faced dementia while preparing for the 70-day trip across the country.  WNKY

  • Defense attorneys for Brooks Houck and Joseph Lawson presented their closing statements on Monday, July 7, in the trial over Crystal Rogers’ 2015 disappearance from Bardstown + the prosecution will present its closing later today as the case moves to the jury.  WNKY
  • Defense attorneys for Brooks Houck and Joseph Lawson presented their closing arguments on Monday in the trial over Crystal Rogers’ disappearance and presumed murder, and prosecutors emphasized cell phone data + witness testimony as jurors will deliberate today on charges including murder, complicity, and tampering with evidence.  WBKO
  • On Saturday, Bowling Green Police conducted traffic checkpoints from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Lovers Lane—214 vehicles passed through while officers arrested three for driving under the influence, charged one with public alcohol intoxication, one with possession of cocaine, and served one warrant as they issued thirteen traffic citations.  WNKY

CULTURE NEWS

  • On Friday night, veterans gathered at White Squirrel Brewery in Bowling Green for Patriot Stories—a songwriting round where they shared experiences from their service through music and spoken word. Veteran Daniel O’Dell performed a song called 'Never Alone' with his service dog to send a message of healing as organizers plan to expand the event to more venues soon.  WNKY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A Warren County student, Ryan Troutman of Alvaton, received a $2,500 scholarship from Essity to help him attend Western Kentucky University, and his award is part of a program that gave out $78,500 for full-time study at accredited universities for the 2025-26 school year.  WBKO

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Woodburn Fire Department Chief Bob Skipper warned that fireworks can still cause fires if not disposed of properly after Fourth of July weekend. He advised that used fireworks be soaked in water overnight rather than just cooled—this precaution follows a recent incident near South Warren.  WBKO
