  • Toys for Tots hosted its first charity golf scramble Monday morning at CrossWinds Golf Course—teams played to raise funds for local children in need. Youth ambassador Darby Meredith said all money raised will help purchase toys while last year the program distributed nearly 100,000 toys to over 31,000 children.  WNKY
  • Runners, families and volunteers gathered Saturday evening at Chaney’s Dairy Barn for the Bowling Green Athletic Club’s 9th Annual Stuff the Bus Family Fun Run—an event supporting the Stuff the Bus Foundation that provides school supplies to local classrooms. Organizer Tony Rose said registration fees, sponsorships and donations will boost a busy summer outreach that helps kids start the school year with essential tools.  WNKY

CRIME NEWS

  • Brooks Houck and Joseph Lawson are set to face trial today in Warren County for the disappearance and presumed murder of Bardstown mother Crystal Rogers—whose body has never been found—with jury selection expected to choose 12 jurors from a pool of 85.  WBKO
  • Bowling Green police arrested 23-year-old Damion Temple after animal control responded on Thursday to a report on Lucina Drive about a German Shepherd found severely emaciated & unable to walk; the dog was taken to the local humane society for care with an anonymous donor covering its medical expenses as Temple admitted full responsibility.  WNKY
  • An Illinois man, Christian Smith, fled a collision and carjacked a Subaru Forester before leading Kentucky State Police on a chase that ended on the northbound on-ramp to Interstate-65 in Park City—he is now jailed on multiple charges with a $50,000 bond and a court appearance scheduled today at 9 a.m.  WCLU Radio

  • Ramsey Theatre Company will present its production of The Wizard of Oz at SKyPAC from June 27 to 29 — the show features a cast of 39 that blends local talent with professionals under the direction of Broadway veteran Diane DiCroce, with performances scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on June 27 and 28 and a 3 p.m. matinee on June 29.  Bowling Green Daily News

  • Commissioner Dana Beasley-Brown said on Monday that Ernesto Manuel-Andres, a local teenager with legal authorization, remained in federal custody after a federal judge granted him the lowest bond that would have let him go home today—because the Department of Homeland Security appealed the decision. She vowed to keep fighting for his constitutional rights.  WNKY
