  • The city has allocated an extra $4M in its fiscal year 2026 budget for Riverfront Park’s phase three—covering design and construction costs for the Barren River Whitewater Park and other improvements. Neighborhood and Community Services Director Brent Childers said phase one’s design is finished and bids are expected this fall as the project moves forward.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • Bowling Green’s new Riverfront Park is set to begin construction soon and will be developed in three phases—phase one will add a boat ramp, sitting areas, a small rock garden, and play features that serve public safety and recreation. The park will also include amenities such as kayaking, a bike track, and rock climbing to create a destination for both locals and visitors.  WBKO

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 56-year-old Smiths Grove woman was rescued from her car after it crashed into a utility pole and flipped on Monday at 2:19 p.m. in Edmonson County — a nearby resident pulled her to safety just before the car ignited, and she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and taken to a hospital in Bowling Green.  WNKY

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Tuesday at the Bowling Green assembly plant, GM unveiled the new Corvette ZR1X with 1,200 horsepower from an added electric drive to boost performance. Officials said there is no official release date for the car yet.  WBKO
  • Jack in the Box announced Tuesday it is seeking local franchisees to open at least four routes plus three Del Taco outlets in Bowling Green. Selected franchisees will have 18 months for their first store and 12 months each for their second and third locations.  Bowling Green Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • BGISD approved new policies that require all employees and volunteers to use a traceable email system when messaging students — the district will also block social media on school WiFi and add one to two minutes of silence at the start of each school day. School principals must notify parents within 10 days of the school year's start about these changes.  Bowling Green Daily News
