EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ At Friday’s board meeting, WKU approved a 3.6% tuition increase for residents of the state, renewed President Caboni’s contract, and announced a three-phase plan to remodel student housing. WKU will ask for bids this summer—proposals are due in September and work will begin with renovating recently closed halls. Bowling Green Daily News

- ➤ Record stormwaters in April raised the lake to 586 feet and forced closures for campgrounds and the Port Oliver area at Barren River Lake. Engineers are lowering the water by about 5 inches each day—officials expect full access for visitors by the July 4 weekend. Bowling Green Daily News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City-County Planning Commission amended the Smallhouse and Elrod roads subdivision plan by reducing the development to 30 single-family homes and lowering the minimum size from 1,000 to 850 square feet, with at least 15 homes required to meet the larger size and a stone or brick façade required—an effort to support affordable entry-level housing. The commission also approved two rezoning applications—one for an 11.21-acre site at Louisville Road to develop a recovery center and one for a 22.82-acre property at Russellville Road and Southwest Parkway for commercial lots. - ➤ A traffic report shows road work in District 3 from June 8 through June 13 will affect driving; projects in Bowling Green include work at exit 7 on I-165 that may cause lane closures. Crews in counties like Allen, Barren, Butler, Logan, Monroe, and Warren are fixing and paving roads—some work will last until fall while a low-water crossing on KY 678 is closed until July. WNKY
- ➤ On Wednesday, the Bowling Green-Warren County Contractor’s Licensing Board revoked Tai Nguyen's license after he broke city rules by allowing sewage to discharge at several Stonehenge Ave sites—emergency septic tanks were installed and stop work orders were issued on multiple projects. Nguyen, who got his license on Sept. 25, 2024, was not present for the vote—he said he learned his lesson after an underground gas line was hit while he tried to fix the problem.
