- ➤ A dedication was held Wednesday outside Greenwood Ford to rename a street as Danny Renshaw Way in honor of the late Danny Renshaw — remembered for his contributions to local business and community programs — with city officials, family and friends joining the ceremony. WNKY
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ WKU produced 10 Gilman scholars in its recent application cycle (Mar. 2026), more than any other college in Kentucky. The scholarship program offers up to $5,000 awards for study abroad and recognizes WKU as a top Gilman-producing institution in the state. College Heights Herald
- ➤ Amanda Trabue, WKU's vice president for philanthropy, will leave on June 30 to begin a fundraising consulting role with BWF + Anthony McAdoo will serve as interim as WKU searches for her replacement. College Heights Herald
- ➤ WKU School of Teacher Education awarded its first Forsythe Scholars Endowment scholarships to 19 students for 2025 to 2026. Established with a $1 million gift from Charlotte Forsythe and Jerry Fandetti in December 2024, the endowment will fund $40,000 in scholarships for 2026 to 2027 (covering conferences and teaching supplies). - ➤ Kentucky's Summer Food Service Program is giving free meals to children 18 and under in low-income areas from late May through August; over 2,000 sites statewide, including locations in Bowling Green, will offer meals along with recreational and educational activities (check with local providers for times). - ➤ Local volunteers held a free CPR and first aid training session at Bob Kirby Branch library last weekend—teaching a dozen children and their families life-saving skills while planning to offer the workshop every two weeks if funding is secured. Bowling Green Daily News

- ➤ The South Warren Spartans beat the Franklin Simpson Lady Cats 14 to 0 in a five inning softball game on Wednesday, May 27 at WKU Softball Complex; they will play the Barren County Trojanettes in today's region championship. Bowling Green Daily News
- ➤ Greenwood advanced to the Region 4 championship game after senior pitcher Whitt Glosick hit a walk-off RBI single to secure a 5-4 win over Franklin-Simpson on Tuesday at Nick Denes Field + the team now aims for its first regional title since 2002. Bowling Green Daily News
- ➤ Bowling Green baseball ended a five-year drought by winning the 4th Region Tournament 7-5 over Greenwood on Wednesday at Nick Denes Field. The Purples will play McCracken County on Thursday, June 4 at Legends Field in the opening round of the Baseball State Tournament presented by UK HealthCare. WNKY
- ➤ Bowling Green’s Purples won 12-2 against Russell County in the Region 4 Baseball Tournament semifinal on Tuesday, May 26 at WKU’s Nick Denes Field after an eight-run second inning rally; the team now advances to the regional championship against Greenwood. Bowling Green Daily News
