- ➤ Russell Sims Aquatic Center reopened Monday, May 25 for the 2026 summer season and expects up to 80,000 visitors. The water park will seek community input on its master plan for future improvements in late June (recreation manager Cameron Levis said the changes aim to boost the facility's appeal). WBKO
- ➤ The Barren County Veterans Association marked Memorial Day at Glasgow Municipal Cemetery as volunteers and JROTC students placed over (1,100) flags to honor fallen service members. Lt. Col. Morgan Brown stressed the importance of local military history and planned Veterans Day events. WBKO

- ➤ Enrollment is still open for Rocket Camp Orion at Aviation Heritage Park on June 1, where students (grades 3-6) will learn flight principles, build and launch rockets during a day-long STEM experience from 9 am to 3 pm that costs $100 per camper. WNKY

- ➤ Butler County and Morgantown plan new safety measures after last Friday’s EF0 tornado damaged a local business roof. A bill allowing homeowners to install storm shelters for multiple residents goes into effect in July. WNKY

- ➤ Runners, walkers and families gathered in Bowling Green over Memorial Day weekend for the 11th Jackrabbit Jog 5K and Bunny Hop Kids Fun Run to raise money and awareness of polycystic kidney disease, which affects one in 500 people.
