CULTURE NEWS

  • Yesterday, 168 reenactors from nine states gathered at Phil Moore Park for the 8th annual Operation Anvil reenactment hosted by Honoring our Heroes nonprofit, recreating World War II battles + the liberation of France.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • Warren County Public Library will host Summer Solstice: A Celtic Celebration on Monday, Jun. 22 at 7 p.m. at the Capitol. The free event features live Celtic music, dance, and poetry with a gathering and traditional dancing at Fountain Square Park.  WBKO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Doug Thompson (Sporting Times) and Matt Stumbo (Stumbo Automotive group) honored Bowling Green student athletes for excellence in sports and academics with the Toyota of Bowling Green Student Athletes on May 23. The recognition celebrates local talent in athletics and education.  WBKO
  • Kids in Warren County practiced CPR on Saturday in a free community class organized by Sukainah Alshahab, who funded the program to help families learn life-saving skills. Everton L. Simmonds taught the CPR course & organizers hope to offer more classes soon.  WBKO
  • Western Kentucky University will host INSIGHT, a five-day STEM teacher camp from June 1 to 5 in Bowling Green. Educators from local districts will learn AI, data science + robotics techniques with support from a $100,000 WKU TOP Grant.  WBKO

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Bowling Green Municipal Utilities said 1,600 customers lost power in Warren County. Crews are working to find the cause and restore service soon (the situation remains under investigation).  WBKO
