- ➤ Educator Jessica Willmes was honored on May 9 at Van Meter Hall by The Gatton Academy for her support of gifted students at Austin Tracy Elementary School; she received a certificate after being nominated by the Class of 2026. WCLU Radio
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ City commissioners approved Scott, Murphy and Daniel as the construction manager for phase two of Riverfront Park on Tuesday — the project includes a cave-themed playground on a one-acre site behind the park’s 71-acre lot. The firm will oversee 90 days of pre-construction work and begin building this fall, with completion expected in about 12 months. Bowling Green Daily News
- ➤ Gov. Beshear announced on Friday that more than $105 million in FEMA funds have been secured to reimburse six hospitals and Kentucky Emergency Management for COVID-19 expenses (covering costs for safety measures, patient care, supplies, and PPE incurred from Jan. 2023 to May 11). WNKY

- ➤ Lorenzo, a baby born with a congenital heart defect, has come home after a 13-hour transplant surgery in February and is now making new memories with his family in Bowling Green. The family said they are deeply grateful for the hospital staff & organ donors who made the surgery possible. WNKY

- ➤ Four historic teams are set to be inducted into WKU's Athletic Hall of Fame as the Class of 2026. The group includes the 1974 track team + 1992-93 basketball team and the 2015 softball and football teams, with ceremony details coming later. Bowling Green Daily News
