  • The Russell Sims Aquatic Center will reopen this weekend after off-season renovations replaced its old yellow bridge with a new wooden one and updated the slides. Bowling Green Parks and Rec will open the gates first to season pass holders tomorrow and then to the entire community on Saturday.  WNKY

CRIME NEWS

  • Nelson County man Steven E. Lawson, charged with complicity to murder and tampering with physical evidence in connection with Bardstown mother Crystal Rogers’ disappearance, was moved to Warren County Regional Jail after Nelson County Judge Charles Simms III granted a change of venue+ his trial is set to begin in Bowling Green on May 27.  WBKO

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Officials from the Barren River Area Development District have launched a study to plan an off-road trail linking Bowling Green and Mammoth Cave National Park along with possible trailhead facilities—public events are scheduled for June 4 at the BRADD office and for June 5 during Uncle Duncan’s Summer Stroll & Roll Parade and Community Ice Cream Social so residents can share input. Residents can also complete an online survey to weigh in on potential routes, challenges, and amenities.  WBKO

HEALTH NEWS

  • Since February, Warren County Sheriff's Office and LifeSkills, Inc. have operated a new unit pairing deputies with certified therapist Kelly Thompson to handle mental health calls in Bowling Green and Warren County—spending about 90 minutes per call—and working to improve responses to overdoses and suicide threats.  WNKY
