- ➤ Saturday, the sheriff’s foundation held its third annual 5K in Bowling Green for National Police Week, with over 90 participants raising funds for deputy training and safety equipment (including virtual training updates); Patrol Deputy Ashton Bell surprised colleagues by finishing first after returning from deployment. - ➤ Operation PRIDE announced that its new Beautify the Bluegrass specialty license plate is available now at local County Clerk’s offices. Purchasing a plate will help fund beautification projects that keep our area clean and green. WBKO
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ College and Career Coach Laura Carter was honored today with the 2026 Pathfinder Award by Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College at Allen County-Scottsville High School (a statewide initiative recognizing exceptional educators). She has organized career fairs and campus tours that help students explore life after graduation. WBKO
- ➤ WCPS approved a tentative budget that will allocate $22.2 million for special education support (a gap nearly double from 11 years ago) while receiving only $4.1 million from federal funds. Rising costs and higher salaries are straining the budget as district leaders plan safety upgrades and curriculum updates. Bowling Green Daily News
