CRIME NEWS

  • Kennith Moore, who once worked as vice president of finance at HeathCo, got 46 months in jail for stealing over $1.1 million in 11 years—he must also pay more than $1.5 million in restitution for the theft and unpaid taxes.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • Two men in Bowling Green were indicted on immigration and firearms charges as part of Operation Take Back America — Artemio Ruiz-Medina, 45, who reentered the U.S. on April 13 and faces up to 10 years, and Zhouchen Yan, 29, who is accused of making false statements on federal firearms forms in Warren County between October 2023 and December 2024 and could face up to 30 years — as federal agencies continue to investigate the cases.  WBKO
  • Kentucky State Police arrested Juan Alvarez, 38, at his residence on the 1900 block of Sandra Street on May 12 after he made threats at the Warren County Justice Center—he is held on a $10,000 cash bond in Warren County Jail.  WBKO
  • A Bowling Green man, Juan Alvarez Pino, was arrested on May 12 for allegedly telling probation and parole officers he needed a ride to kill his problems—he faces two counts of terroristic threatening and is now held at the Warren County Regional Jail.  WNKY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Western Kentucky University announced that Regents Hall and Normal Hall will shut for code repairs through the coming academic year—about 1,000 students will be affected as housing assignments are updated. The university also confirmed that Hilltopper Hall, closed since 2024, is set to be demolished because repairs are not feasible—its future use will be determined later.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • Warren Central High School held its annual Military Signing Day where students celebrated their next steps after graduation—many expressed excitement to learn about military opportunities and what the future holds.  WBKO

  • FEMA assistance began for Warren County residents after Gov. Beshear declared a federal disaster following April floods that damaged homes and roads.
