  • The Community Foundation named Jim and Darlene Johnson South Central Kentuckians of the Year on Thursday for their decades of service to the area—especially Bowling Green. This award, given during the foundation's 13th anniversary, honors their work with local groups.  WNKY
  • The Kiwanis Club of Bowling Green announced that the Hayward Minton Thunderfest Fireworks Show and Music Festival will take place at Ephram White Park on Saturday, June 28, featuring live entertainment, a kids zone, food trucks, and a headlining performance by Rowdy Shea—gates open at 3 p.m. and admission is $25 per carload.  WNKY

  • The Warren County Public Library now runs the SOKY Center as a hub for local small businesses to start, offering resources like a commercial kitchen and wellness equipment. CRIME NEWS

  • Kenneth Ray Moore, a Bowling Green man, was sentenced in federal court to three years and 10 months in prison and two years of supervised release for fraud, money laundering and tax evasion—he stole over $1.1 million from his employer between October 2009 and May 2020 and must pay over $1.5 million in restitution.  WBKO

HEALTH NEWS

  • Yesterday, Warren County took final steps toward its Recovery Ready Communities Certification at the Barren River District Health Department—where providers like Nikki Turner of Malta Recovery shared their efforts in substance use support. Two Volunteers for America members attended the meeting, and an advisory council will decide in late summer if the county qualifies.  Bowling Green Daily News
