  • A Warren Central High School senior saved two students from drowning at Phil Moore Park last month—he jumped in after hearing a call for help—and was honored in Fiscal Court this week as local officials praised his bravery.  WNKY
  • Catholic communities in Bowling Green and worldwide celebrated Cardinal Robert Prevost’s selection as Pope Leo XIV on Thursday afternoon+he is expected to follow Pope Francis’s lead. Bishop William Medley of the Diocese of Owensboro will be replaced when he retires in two to three years.  WNKY
  • WBKO announced that tickets are now available for the 2025 St. Jude Dream Home—a project that has partnered with the hospital for 21 years to help children in Southcentral Kentucky; the home in the South Haven subdivision (near South Warren High School) features four bedrooms and two bathrooms and tickets cost $100 to support St. Jude’s work. Home designer Darrel Sweets said the event gives people a chance to own a new home while aiding lifesaving care for kids.  WBKO
  • Today the Warren County Specialty Courts hosted a Recovery Walk at the Warren County Justice Center to honor National Treatment Court Month and show how treatment courts help those battling addiction get their lives back on track. Participants carried signs and wore themed attire—underlining that structured support offers a clear path to recovery instead of jail time.  WBKO

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Friday morning, around 6:05 a.m., Bowling Green firefighters responded to a reported structure fire at 111 Cosma Drive—located in Magna—and observed visible flames from the roof before crews extinguished the fire—leaving no injuries reported.  WNKY

CRIME NEWS

  • A Bowling Green man, Devonte T. Barber, 26, was arrested Wednesday after police said he received a 32-pound package of marijuana from California—detectives executed a search warrant at his Lynhurst Drive home and also seized 2.5 pounds of marijuana, a handgun, and $590 in cash.  Bowling Green Daily News

  • Bowling Green student Anna Cox was rushed to the UK Albert B. Chandler Emergency Department with severe pain and later diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma; she changed her path, quit her job, and returned to school to study medicine. She matched into the UK HealthCare Internal Medicine/Pediatrics residency program and plans to move back to Lexington with her husband & daughter to care for her community.  Bowling Green Daily News
