GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City of Bowling Green announced that crews will start construction next week on an 8-foot-wide multi-use path along Highland Way between Nashville Road and Smallhouse Road. The 4,100-foot path is designed for walkers and bikers and may cause traffic delays during work.  WBKO

SPORTS NEWS

  • South Warren's softball team stayed undefeated after beating Greenwood 6-1 on Thursday, April 30 at South Warren High School. Pitcher Layla Ogden threw a complete game to clinch the top District 14 seed while Greenwood managed one solo homer.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • Bowling Green High School and Junior High School have hired new cheer coaches this week, with Thomas Vincent leading the high school team and Oshkea Carothers coaching the junior squad — both bringing strong local experience and a track record of success to their roles.  WNKY
  • The Hot Rods lost 2 to 0 to the Rome Emperors at AdventHealth Stadium on Thursday, Apr. 30. Jose Urbina allowed one unearned run while Emilien Pitre earned his third multi-hit game (his performance stood out), and the teams will resume their series on Friday at 5:45 p.m.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • Western Kentucky had five players named to the 2026 Kentucky Collegiate All-Commonwealth Team, as announced Thursday by the Kentucky Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Hilltoppers, recognized for on-field and classroom leadership, will open the season at Nevada on Sept. 5.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • Western Kentucky shortstop Reid Howard was named a Brooks Wallace Award semifinalist by the College Baseball Foundation as one of 50 top shortstops chosen for his season performance; the award will be presented later this year.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • Scotties lost by a score of 6 to 3 to Warren East on Thursday night in a district baseball game locally. Warren East scored three runs in the first two innings while the Raiders improved to a 3 to 1 district record as the Scotties dropped to 1 to 3 overall.  WCLU Radio
  • Glasgow's Lady Scotties lost four to two on Thursday in a 15th District contest against Allen County Scottsville after falling behind early, which dropped their district record to one four while the Lady Patriots improved to five to zero.  WCLU Radio
  • Bowling Green senior Payton Steward drove in nine runs to guide the Lady Purples to a 25 to 0 win over Warren Central on Thursday. (Steward went 4 for 4 with two triples and two doubles, and the team is set to host Ohio County on Friday.)  Bowling Green Daily News
  • At the Dragon Invitational track meet on Thursday at Warren Central, Central's boys team won (213 points) while Logan County's girls team led with 158 points among seven teams, marking a strong local performance.  Bowling Green Daily News
