  • Volunteers at Warren County Fire Department completed 9 months of training by logging over 200 hours + earning nationally recognized Firefighter I certification, a key step that boosts local readiness; future academies will begin Sept. 10 to expand the team.  WBKO

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • An overnight storm generated two tornadoes in Hart and Ohio counties; the EF-0 touched down east of Millerstown with winds of 80 mph and the EF-1 hit northeast of Hartford with winds reaching 100 mph.  WBKO

  • On Tuesday's edition of SOKY Speaks, Ashlee Wilson interviewed Jim Sears of Morris Jewelry (celebrating 145 years in Bowling Green), where he detailed the business's long local legacy.  WNKY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • T.J. Regional Health announced the 2026 Education scholarship winners for local high school seniors aiming for health careers. Diya Nair, Gracie Reed, and Noah Holbrook each receive a ($2,000 award) to support their college plans.  WNKY
  • On April 24, the WKU Board of Regents approved a $350 million public-private project to upgrade campus housing at WKU. The partnership involves Gilbane Development Company and Collegiate Housing Foundation to manage and modernize aging housing — the largest residential investment in the university’s history.  WNKY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Bowling Green Public Works reported a sinkhole collapse at the intersection of Kiwanis Drive & Shawnee Way on Tuesday, April 28, which damaged a water line; crews closed Kiwanis Drive while repairs were made and advised motorists to take alternate routes.  WNKY

  • Will McCoy, a Glasgow native and Region 4 Coach of the Year, was introduced as Franklin-Simpson’s new boys basketball coach on Monday.
