  • Hundreds of people gathered for the 25th annual Great Teddy Bear Run on Saturday morning in Bowling Green—over 500 motorcyclists rode 13 miles from the Warren County Justice Center to the Harley-Davidson dealership to deliver teddy bears for child abuse victims. Sabrina Durbin from the Barren River Child Advocacy Center said the event supports free healing services for about 1,000 children.  WBKO
  • Lon Solomita—a heart transplant recipient and lifelong Corvette fan—married his wife, Hannah Schmatkova, at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the National Corvette Museum’s Skydome, where GM plant director Ray Theriault officiated the ceremony and helped raise awareness about organ donation.  WNKY

CRIME NEWS

  • Federal prosecutors requested that Franklin Pharmacy owner Joseph Huff and his wife be sent to prison for stealing drugs and committing health care fraud, and they will be sentenced on May 1 in U.S. District Court.  Bowling Green Daily News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Med Center Health will open its new 22000 square foot Glasgow facility Monday, April 28 to provide primary and specialty care for Glasgow and Barren County residents after a ribbon cutting on April 24 that drew over 200 people (including community members and officials). The center will offer same-day and walk-in appointments along with diagnostic imaging and laboratory services in 20 exam rooms to improve local health care access.  Bowling Green Daily News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Over 225 athletes from seven local delegations competed at Bowling Green High School Saturday morning in a Special Olympics track meet to try to qualify for the state competition in June—participants like Dillon Meador shared how the event helped them feel included and proud.  WBKO
  • Western Kentucky defensive back Upton Stout was chosen by the San Francisco 49ers with the 36th pick in the third round of the NFL Draft on April 25; he became the 40th Hilltopper drafted. He is the first 49ers pick from WKU since 2016 — Stout played three seasons at WKU and was named first-team in his final season — and his selection marks a strong draft record for the school.  Bowling Green Daily News
