ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Earth Week promotes care for our planet as an Arbor Day event on Saturday, April 25 at 1220 Fairview Ave from 9 a.m. to noon, where 1,000 free seedling trees will be given away while local horticulture and park leaders invite residents to plant a tree or enjoy nearby parks if backyard space is limited.  WBKO

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Bowling Green approved a new pro shop at Paul Walker Golf Course to be built by Sunbelt Construction for up to $3,026,041. Construction will begin this summer and temporary trailers will keep golf operations running during upgrades that add a simulator room and cart barn.  WNKY

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Bowling Green Hot Rods won by seven to four on Wednesday when Tom Poole's multi-home run performance set a season-high four homers at the ballpark; the team meets Jersey Shore again tonight (6:35 p.m.) with right-hander Trevor Harrison taking on Luke Gabrysh.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • Warren East seniors Andrew Barbalas and Brooks Vincent led a 4-2 baseball win at Barren County Tuesday in District 15, evening the season series, while Bowling Green, Franklin-Simpson and other local teams posted strong results in baseball, softball and lacrosse contests.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • Western Kentucky women’s golf team maintained their lead at the Conference USA Championship in Frisco, Texas after Tuesday’s game was delayed by rain and groups finished on Wednesday morning (including Sydney Hackett’s group).   • Senior McLaine Hudson, who already holds the state record for hits, broke Kaylee Tow's mark of 75 career home runs when he hit two against Navarre on April 6 and now has 80 homers after Monday's game against Allen County-Scottsville.  Bowling Green Daily News
