  • Hope for Hunger food drive will start on April 24 to collect food for local kids in need. The Realtor Association of Southern Kentucky and Feeding America will run the drive while WNKY News 40 will track donations (last year's drive collected over 200,000 servings).  WNKY
  • Rev. Ryan Harpole of St. Joseph Catholic Church said Pope Francis died early Monday in Vatican City and urged his congregation to care for the outcast and poor. CULTURE NEWS

  • BG Fiestaval, a bi-annual Hispanic Festival hosted by the Regional alliance of student and professionals (RASP), will take place May 2-4 at 1200 Clay Street and will feature traditional dances, authentic food, live performances, and cultural booths that highlight local heritage. The free event will also offer cake for moms on May 4 to honor Mother's Day.  WNKY

  • Kentucky Auditor Allison Ball launched an investigation into the Office of Medical Cannabis after receiving complaints about the fairness of its lottery process awarding licenses to cultivators and dispensaries (lotteries held in October and November). Her office will review the business license application and award processes (HB 47 signed on March 31, 2023, made medical cannabis legal on Jan 1) to ensure state transparency and integrity.  WCLU Radio
  • Warren County officials updated the flooded roads report after last week’s heavy rains. They listed roads still closed, including the 5200 block of Carl Jordan Road and Fred Lively Road, while roads such as Anna Sandhill Road and Aaron Road have reopened—officials warn that changing conditions may affect travel.  WNKY

HEALTH NEWS

  • Today, T.J. Regional Health announced that four high school seniors—Carlee Huckaby, Cainin Woodard, Briley Aidala and Addison Bartley—will each receive a $2,000 scholarship to support their plans to enter health care, with winners coming from Adair County, Glasgow, Barren County and Monroe County. The health system also announced a multi-million-dollar expansion in Glasgow that will improve local services soon.  WBKO
