  • Governor Beshear urged residents to join the sixth-annual Cover the Cruiser campaign to raise funds and support local Special Olympics athletes; a one dollar donation lets participants add a custom sticker on a KSP cruiser + every dollar goes directly to the programs. Post 3 troopers served at FiveStar in Bowling Green on April 17 while Post 2 troopers will be at Casey’s General Store on April 24.  WBKO
  • The Bowling Green What Could BG Be initiative released public survey results last week—gathering over 7,000 resident responses with more than 1 million votes that showed strong support for projects such as riverfront redevelopment.   • Walter Sharp suffered a leg amputation and other serious injuries when a BMW turned into a median while he was riding his Harley near the intersection of Russellville Road and Jack Smith Road in Rockfield on Saturday afternoon—his family has started a GoFundMe to help cover his medical bills, therapy, and prosthetics.  WBKO

  • A man named Alexander Springer was arrested in Scottsville after he was found riding a stolen electronic mobility scooter and shopping cart taken from a Walmart in Bowling Green — officers charged him with receiving stolen property valued between $1,000 and $10,000.  WNKY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Last Thursday, students at T.C. Cherry Elementary School watched The Kody Norris Show perform bluegrass music—a part of our local heritage—as lead singer Kody Norris spoke about his family ties to the school. The band will release a new album in June and perform at The Capitol on May 24 at the Kentucky Acoustic Music Festival.  WBKO
  • Journalist Josie Duffy Rice spoke at WKU’s annual John B. Gaines Family Lecture Series on Thursday, April 17, urging journalism students to explore media careers despite uncertain long-term job security.
