- ➤ Volunteer firefighters at Woodburn Fire Department are facing higher fuel costs as gas prices nearly double the cost to fill a fire truck, chief Bob Skipper said. The department handles 900 calls a year and encourages public support through volunteering and local fundraisers. WNKY

- ➤ South Warren’s softball team achieved its biggest win in program history with a 6-1 victory against nationally ranked No. 1 Orange Beach on Thursday night in Orange Beach, Alabama — the win ended a 45-game streak for the defending champs and advanced the Spartans to a flawless 21-0 record. - ➤ Bowling Green’s Nicholas Morris and Annalise Morris won age-division titles at a Bluegrass Golf Tour event held Thursday at the University Club-Big Blue Course in Lexington.
