  • During March, Jersey Mike’s in Bowling Green and Glasgow raised $20,000 for T.J. Community Mission Foundation by inviting patrons to tip the charity—100 percent of sales on March 26 went toward the cause—and the funds will support programs including the Shanti Niketan Hospice Home, community medical care, and Trinity Rehabilitation Center.  WCLU Radio

  • A Bowling Green man, Matthew Higdon, was arrested at 6:41 p.m. Wednesday after his vehicle veered off I-65 near Oakland and hit a tree—he reportedly took suboxone and methamphetamine—and he is now held at the Warren County Regional Jail facing multiple charges.  WNKY
  • Today a federal grand jury in Bowling Green indicted Honduran national Alexis Pinto-Mejia (38) for illegally coming back to the country and having a gun after he was deported before (and he is held in custody pending trial with a potential sentence of 17 years if convicted).  WBKO
  • Glasgow police stopped 36-year-old Randee Bell on Tuesday at Burkesville Road after smelling marijuana—an inspection found suspected marijuana, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, scales, and Diazepam—and she was taken to Barren County Detention Center and charged with multiple drug-related offenses.  WNKY

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Historic RailPark and Train Museum has announced its first official Spring Tour Season of UnSeen BG to share Bowling Green's past. The series will feature a new walking tour of the Shake Rag District for adults 21+ (with a beverage included) and a returning tour on local women's history, with RailPark member tickets released on April 16 at 10 a.m. and general public tickets on April 22 at 10 a.m.  WNKY

  • Several students from Barren County Area Technology Center placed at the Future Business Leaders of America Region 2 Leadership Conference at Western Kentucky University—earning top awards in various business fields—and will advance to the state conference next week in Louisville.  WCLU Radio

  • A giant sinkhole formed near a home on Normandy Way after severe flooding last week—city crews began repair work once conditions allowed. Officials expect the repair process to take about a week to secure the area from further hazards.  WBKO
