- ➤ The Butler County Arts Hall of Fame will induct its first honoree, Grady Roger Givens (long-time arts supporter) on April 18 at the Eva Hawes Community Center in Morgantown. - ➤ Western Kentucky University professor Dr. Amy Brausch earned the Conference USA Faculty Achievement Award on Thursday. She is recognized for her strong teaching and research on suicide prevention — which has involved over 40 collaborators — and for mentoring both graduate and undergraduate students. WNKY
- ➤ On April 11, WKU will host the Student Scholar Showcase at Downing Student Union with 254 undergraduate and graduate projects from 34 departments. The free event will include 157 poster exhibits and 97 oral presentations, and community members are welcome to attend. WNKY
- ➤ WKU student-athletes Nina McMurtrey and Katie Murphy (women’s golf and softball) received Conference USA Commissioner’s Academic Medals last year, joining a record 101 recipients who maintained a GPA of 3.75 or higher. - ➤ WKU Forensics finished its debate season with key wins and awards at the 80th National Debate Tournament (Mar. 27–30) at University of Houston and at the ADA Nationals (Mar. 7–9) at Emory University; team members earned honors including the first-ever freshman champion at the LD Grand Prix.
