COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Farmers RECC in Glasgow reported that 854 members remain without power after a storm caused outages to peak at 2,100, and crews have made significant headway in restoring service. Crews face delays from saturated ground, downed trees and debris—complete power restoration is expected today barring unforeseen complications.  WNKY
  • Today’s Pet of the Day is Princess, a small and ladylike dog at the Bowling Green-Warren County Humane Society who loves learning new tricks, children, and other dogs but does not get along with cats. Interested adopters are encouraged to visit the Humane Society to give her a loving home.  WNKY

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gov. Andy Beshear joined local officials at SKyPAC on April 2 to mark Bowling Green’s top rank in economic development by Site Selection Magazine. Local leaders said new business investments (from Southern Coil Solutions and Clark Beverage Group) are expected to bring more jobs and boost the local economy.  Bowling Green Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On April 3, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said many state routes in District 3 were closed due to flooding—crews worked to keep these roads closed and urged drivers to avoid barricades and unsafe passes. Motorists are advised to stay cautious as conditions change quickly.  WNKY
  • City commissioners approved a bid to complete the West End Greenway, which will link the West End to downtown Bowling Green via Kentucky Street to Hobson Grove Park; construction will begin in the next couple of weeks and take six to eight months to finish—Baker Contracting won the $973,834.49 bid. The commissioners also approved a $230,000 bid to replace sidewalks along Old Morgantown Road and Riverview Drive to remove trip hazards.  Bowling Green Daily News
