EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Beshear signed Senate Bill 77 last week that lets Western Kentucky University propose doctoral programs if it meets rules from the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education—WKU plans to propose a data science research doctorate and work toward earning an R2 research university classification. The law goes into effect in July and the university will share more details once steps for approval are set. Bowling Green Daily News

- ➤ Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services said federal funding cuts from the Department of Government Efficiency are affecting veteran programs, vaccine distribution, the suicide hotline, and addiction treatment services.
