  • Lainey Brennan, a one year old from Bowling Green who overcame a serious heart defect with open heart surgery at five weeks, was honored at a recent Western Kentucky University game and will be featured at Dance Big Red on Friday.  WNKY
  • Garry Taylor with Empty Bowls will host a fundraising event on March 19 to help feed local residents, noting that 1 in 7 struggle with enough food & community support is needed.  WBKO

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Fifth Third Bank opened its first branch in Bowling Green on Thursday in a renovated Pizza Hut building on Nashville Road, drawing local officials, WKU cheerleaders and Big Red at the ribbon cutting. ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Franklin-Simpson Industrial Authority earned national recognition when Site Selection magazine ranked the region tied for 9th among micropolitans for 2025’s record-breaking $605 million investment and nearly 1,000 new jobs. In January and February, over $35 million added 288 new jobs, officials said.  WNKY

  • Bowling Green Junior High School announced its upcoming production of Finding Nemo Jr. as shared on Friday’s Sunrise Spotlight (featuring Ashlee Wilson, Kirbee Hamilton, and Levi Moseley) to update local families on the event.  WNKY
  • Registration is now open at the Early Learning Academy as Assistant Preschool Director Christina Sanders emphasized how preschool education builds a solid foundation for children & families. Local families are encouraged to enroll soon to secure early learning opportunities.  WBKO

HEALTH NEWS

  • T.J. Regional Health in Glasgow was named a Best Home Health Agency by U.S. News & World Report for good care. The hospital earned a High Performing rating among 12,000 agencies and recently celebrated 50 years of service.  WNKY
  • Clocks will spring forward this Sunday, and Kentucky State Police and a sleep doctor from the University of Kentucky urge drivers to adjust sleep routines and take rest breaks to reduce drowsy driving risks on Kentucky roads (including Bowling Green).  WBKO

  • Warren Central High School announced Kenneth ‘Kenny’ Davidson as the new head football coach, a proud alumnus returning to lead the Dragons. His introductory event is scheduled for Monday, Mar. 9 (3pm in the WCHS Library) as he aims to build strong relationships with players and the community.  WNKY
